In June 2025, we began our cooking journey for Eat Me's R&D. 13 participants, 13 recipes, 13 interviews, 13 dishes.
Cesar, participant & collaborator:
"I was surprised when I showed up to Lu’s kitchen to find all the ingredients needed to prepare traditional Mexican mole were readily available (I mean, I did specify what was needed, but seeing it all there was thrilling). As we cooked together, they threw some very insightful and moving questions my way; questions I had never asked myself nor stopped to consider. I felt like I was learning something about myself at the same time as Lu and Eva were.
One of my favorite moments was when we were boiling the dried chilies, hydrating them back to life. It had been over a year - if not more - since I had smelled that smell. It immediately took me back home. I not only got to share my story, but also a dish I think represents my culture. That felt meaningful. I also really appreciated the effort and work they were putting behind this project to be able to speak about other experiences and stories from an informed point of view."
