Welcome to the new Home Office Visa Application System, where cooking is at the heart of finding home!
To apply, you need to distill your entire existence - identity, home, experiences and aspirations - into one delicious dish. Your right to remain in the country depends on cooking this dish for the King... what will YOU cook?
You have one hour.
READY. STEADY. COOK.
Eat Me is a comedic and pointed exploration of the UK’s visa application system dissected through the frame of cooking a meal for the King, live on stage.

THE PROCESS
THE ORIGIN STORY
Way back when, in the depths of 2020, our first nugget of Eat Me was formed. Following a series of interviews by Korean ANT, Eva H Lee, of other immigrants living in the UK, we had an idea. While co-cooking the same meal together over zoom, and over the smell of crisping spring onions, we explored ‘home’, ‘identity’, and ‘belonging’ on a new level. It made us ask the question - when you apply to live elsewhere, would you adapt your recipes in order to make it on the menu?
IN THIS DISH, YOU WILL FIND
13 interviewees with experience of applying for UK visa
13 delicious dishes, cooked, eaten & shared
MANY cooking utensils, EVEN MORE ingredients
6 collaborative workshops with more food & more making
2 focussed R&D weeks
An Arts Council grant and generous support from Battersea Arts Centre, Jackon’s Lane & Omnibus Theatre
